CENTRE D'ÉTUDE DE L'EXPRESSION

Découvrez nos formations en art-thérapie : formation pratique d'art-thérapie (1 an) et formation qualifiante d'art-thérapeute (2 ans).

THE ORIGINS OF THE CENTER

The Center for the Study of Expression (CEE) was founded in 1954, when Professor Jean Delay established the first Department of Psychopathological Art at the Clinic for Mental and Brain Disorders, entrusted to Professor Robert Volmat. In 1973, this department evolved to become the Center for the Study of Expression as it exists today. The CEE is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to provide training in art therapy, conduct scientific research, compile specialized documentation, and preserve and promote the Sainte-Anne Collection. It is also a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

For 30 years, the Centre d’Etude de l’Expression has been providing art therapy training in Paris, at the Sainte-Anne hospital center.

“Art therapy brings together psychotherapeutic techniques that use artistic practices as the primary means of communication and expression. Speech is not the main therapeutic tool: it is through engagement in creative work that reflection and elaboration take place. All forms of practice related to the categories of art can be used: painting, modeling, performing arts (theater, dance, puppetry), music, and writing.

For more than 30 years, the Centre d’Etude de l’Expression has been involved in the training of art therapists. The content of the training enables students to acquire all the skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to practice this profession with vulnerable populations, in a therapeutic setting or in non-therapeutic projects.”
