ART THERAPIST QUALIFICATION TRAINING (2 YEARS)

This art therapy training program allows you to acquire the skills necessary to lead art therapy workshops, combining theory, practice, and clinical reflection, while preparing you to work in both institutional and private practice settings.

 

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Be able to lead an art therapy workshop, whether in an institutional or private setting.

Acquire the theoretical concepts underlying these practices.

Prepare for the therapeutic relationship through practical scenarios, analysis of practices, and feedback from internships.

TRAINING COSTS

Personal contribution: €3,500 for one year, or €7,000 in total

Covered by an organization: €4,500 for one year, or €9,000 in total

Access to the specialized Documentation Center.

Free admission to MAHHSA during the training period, with catalogs of past exhibitions given as a welcome gift.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Psychologists, educators, artists, doctors, social workers.

Both those from the health sector and those from the arts sector are eligible. Previous professional experience is required, as well as artistic experience.

PREREQUISITES

This program is intended for individuals with at least a bachelor’s degree and professional experience, regardless of field.

This program leads to a qualification. Personal or professional artistic practice is required.

TRAINING DURATION AND ORGANIZATIONAL DETAILS

The training years run from January to December. Classes and practical workshops take place at the Sainte-Anne Hospital Center, with the possibility of distance learning for theoretical classes, depending on the travel arrangements of the instructors. The instructors are professionals who have been working for many years in hospitals or paramedical settings and who have conducted their own research. All equipment is made available to trainees, regardless of the workshop.

For the first year : 144 hours of training, divided into four weeks of practical and theoretical instruction. The content of these courses includes historical and clinical references and practical studies for each artistic medium. There are also eight half-days of practical workshops that explore six different therapeutic mediums (painting, modeling, theater, music, dance, and writing). The choice of specialization is made at the end of the first year.

– 200 hours of internship to learn about the institution and a detailed internship report.

– A minimum of 50 hours of writing work is required.

– Continuous assessment and exams at the end of the year. Progression to the second year is subject to passing all exams.

For the second year : 144 hours of training, divided into 4 weeks of practical and theoretical instruction. Theoretical review, clinical case studies, analysis of practices, and a comprehensive module devoted to assessments and indications. Practical workshop days in the chosen specialty.

– 300 hours of co-facilitating art therapy workshops.

– At least 100 hours of personal work.

– End-of-year exams and writing a final thesis.

– A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of all exams.
