Psilocybin, when psychiatry observes creation, 2015
Center for the Study of Expression
The exhibition Psilocybin, when psychiatry observes creation, looks back on a specific period of research in psychiatry. The 1960s saw experimentation with psychotherapy using neuroleptics. The aim of this exhibition is to present works created by patients while under the influence of psilocybin, experiments that allowed psychiatrists to explore the creative process of their patients.
The catalog is divided into three chapters. The first chapter looks back at the history of psychiatry and its links with creativity. The second chapter focuses on two theses published in 1960 and 1962 that report on research conducted at Sainte-Anne on the use of psilocybin. Finally, the last part is devoted to the works and protocols put in place for patients.
